Porch renovation in front of the Morbihan Gulf

It is seaside, in front of the Morbihan Gulf, that this house was built in the late 90’s. Then, in 2003, the owners decided to install a porch. Therefore, 20 years later, they took the decision to renovate their porch with a new moderner extension, integrating a greater thermal comfort. For that, they chose to by accompanied by Breiz Alu, manufacturer partner Installux. His challenge? Redo a rounded structure that perfectly matches the curves of the front of the house.

A 100% made-to-measure technically complex project

After removing the old porch, the artisan designed a 106m2 extension. He chose the flat-roofed Luciole® extension. For him, the flat roof is the most thermal solution in the market. To enhance their thermal performance, the manufacturer fitted the aluminum joineries with solar control triple glazing. In fact, this is an essential thermal complement. The extension is then extended by a conservatory designed using the same aluminum profiles, to ensure a perfectly uniform appearance.

Aesthetics were also at the heart of the project. In fact, to preserve the rounding shape of the existing façade, the timber frame had to fit in perfectly. Installing the timber structure was a lengthy process involving the design office. In addition, the owners chose to replace the blue color of the original porch with an anthracite grey, which adds a more modern feel.

A house extension full of light

Using a porch as a home extension adds even more light to the building thanks to the glazing. For the openings, Breiz Alu chose Installux high-performance joineries: the Galaxie® 32TH sliding door with three casements, and the Espace® 70^TH window. The four series of sliding windows installed on the façade create a total glazed surface area of 21 meters, giving an obstructed view of the sea. He also chose to install three skylights in the roof to bring more light into the extension. Fitted with motorized shutters, they control the light and heat in the room.

Reinforced insulation with thermal breaks

In any renovation or new-build project, it is vital to fight heat loss. At a time when saving energy is a key issue in every household, it is important to choose aluminum profiles equipped with thermal break technology. In fact, to reinforce the insulation of your joinery, a bar crimp ensures a thermal break between the inside and the outside, in winter and summer alike.

Transforming their home thanks to the extension

With the Covid-19 crisis and the various lockdowns, the organization of works and lifestyles have changed a great deal. The home must therefore adapt and create spaces for these new uses:
