A new piece in its own right
The owners wanted to buy an 80s house, typical of the Haute Savoie region, located at an altitude of 750 meters. However, it lacked a bedroom, a must for the future owners. The purchase was thus definitive when they decided to create a living extension and rearrange the interior layout.
To do this, they were accompanied by Installux partner manufacturer Actuel Véranda. Together, they created an extension with no demarcation from the existing habitat. As a result, they were able to install a true master suite on the other side of the house. This 25m² extension is also extended by a terrace.
An extension into the codes of the region
This extension takes up the original features of the house. Indeed, the half-hipped roof and the overhanging roof can be found here. The half-hipped roof breaks up the height of the gables and creates a lower ceiling inside, making the living area easier to heat. The Espace® 70TH Installux range of windows adapts perfectly to specific roof shapes. To create the timber frame, the aluminum carpenter worked with a carpenter. The carpenter took care of the posts, framework, roof tiles and zinc work. The aluminum joiner took care of the sash infill.
To create an opening to the outside and to the new terrace, the craftsman chose a Galaxie® 32TH Hautes Performances sliding system, with three leaves and three rails. To create no obstacle between the extension and the terrace, the sliding track is integrated into the floor: an asset as much aesthetic as practical.
In terms of colors, the profiles have benefited from the bicoloring process. This allows for a different color on the inside and outside of the joinery. On the outside, a dark gray blends perfectly with the color of the house's original roof. On the inside, a slightly lighter, softer gray is used. In addition, a frosted matte finish enhances the color and gives a more aesthetic appearance.
A scale project and a facade redesign
The biggest challenge of this project was to work on a sloping site, with a masonry structure that had to be perfectly level. A great deal of earthwork was therefore required to obtain this extension.
In addition, the craftsmen manufacturer modified the façade to accommodate the new room. A French window and a balcony were removed in favor of a window and roller shutters. A second balcony has been reduced in size, while the window and shutters will be replaced later with aluminum joinery and roller shutters.
A large-scale project like this can be carried out in several phases. Here, the customers have opted for an extension and will be able to change the house's existing joinery at a later date. All this while ensuring real continuity with the craftsman, who will be able to manufacture and install the same products for greater consistency.
