The project: home extension aesthetic and contemporary
The main idea behind this renovation was to give the house a facelift, or even radically alter its character, by creating a first-floor extension, with a resolutely contemporary aesthetic, very uncluttered and open onto the garden.
And so, after just a few months' work, a new living room came into being in place of the facade and its classic set of windows. The project was as much about creating bespoke joinery as it was about creating sections of masonry to conceal an elevator, support the levels and accommodate the aluminum frames. The great success of the project consists in the creation of a galandage corner sliding window, composed of 4 leaves for a width of more than 5 m along the length and a return of 1.60 m.
The facades offer doors as well as double ventail Galaxie 32TH sliding windows. The slim, sand-blasted gray-tinted profiles are both elegant and discreet, never stopping the eye.
The same spirit guided the design of the glazed railing on the terrace section, for a safe inside/outside effect.
The new space was intended to integrate an organic whole comprising kitchen and living room. In other words, a place that people frequent regularly, where life should be good.
Objective: Give way to elegance
Beautiful projects are often born of a desire that's a little crazy, a little out of the ordinary. The owner of this traditionally styled house in the Lyon region wanted radical change, light and contrast, as much as to ensure a serene future by rethinking the house's accessibility.
To achieve this, he called on Installux partner manufacturer SFAB.
An extension with a contemporary spirit and clean lines
It's noticeable that everything, from the bay window frames to the entrance and garage doors, via the upstairs railings, is part of a symbiosis of clean lines, an atmosphere of modernity. Aluminum is special in that it can be used to create profiles that are both very thin and very strong. And that's exactly what was needed here. Designing the sliding corner required a great deal of skill, both in planning and installation. The desired look would never have been possible with heavier, less discreet profiles. As it is, they are totally concealed in the roof overhang and side masonry. Only a central concrete pillar is visible, echoing the masonry structure in a very modern spirit.
In the open position, the slider is invisible and the view, unobstructed. The various accessories also play the contemporary elegance card, from the designer pull handles to the minimalist railing that brings a cruise ship effect. The same aesthetic choice guided the design of the glazed entrance door matched with a fixed bay, so that all the joinery in the house responds in coherence.
Gallandage sliding systems: the perfect partner for the most stylish extension projects
.The great strength of the galandage sliding system lies in its design, which is geared to maximum opening and large glazing clearances. Thanks to the high inertia of the profiles, sashes weighing up to 200 kg can be handled with a simple movement of the hand. The design is discreet.
In fact, this is the very principle of galandage, where an open leaf disappears completely into the wall, guaranteeing purity of line.
Customer testimonials
"I've worked for a long time with people with reduced mobility, and it seemed obvious to me, when it came to redoing the terrace, to take into account this parameter, this necessary accessibility to be implemented for the future.
The project therefore revolved around the installation of an elevator, which entailed a real reworking of the house's facade. Add to this the fact that we wanted to push the boundaries, to completely open up the view. It was a real challenge that our craftsman manufacturer SFAB met with flying colors!"

Our role was to provide technical expertise on the joinery, on how to arrange it and implement all its performance.
Advice, reliability, but also the ability to ensure good cohesion between teams to make each other's work easier... Therein lies the secret of a successful project.
