A house with charactercharacter
Lachassagne, this Beaujolais wine village and its château built on medieval ruins, is a well of history with a distinct taste. Vineyards, winery and cellars have been part of the heritage since the 18th century. Wine production, like an inheritance, is passed down from generation to generation to the farming families.
This is the story of a winegrowing couple as passionate about black gold as they are about old buildings. For their main residence, they naturally decided to invest in an old golden stone farmhouse. A building that alone bears witness to the rich history of the village of Arlequins and Arlequines.
With the help of an architect, an interior designer, a host of expert craftsmen and Installux Partner manufacturer Confort Habitat, the couple transformed this farmhouse into a true house of character. Who more legitimate than a local craftsman, a fine connoisseur of the region and its architectural charms, to adapt to the existing building and create new openings?
Bringing an old building back to life
Testimony"This family, deeply attached to their region, wanted a state-of-the-art renovation for their future home. Our ability to handle such a large-scale project and our expertise in renovation and custom manufacturing were decisive criteria. We're a local company, located less than 4km from the site. Our numerous references confirmed the choice of the architect and his customers. Our work required simultaneous synchronization with different trades. In fact, the entire house - over 300m2 - was renovated from floor to ceiling! Only the walls, with their authentic character, were preserved.
The masonry part was titanic: some thirty windows divided between the ground and first floors, sometimes fixed, sometimes sliding, all complemented by swing shutters. The installation was as strategic as the technical design and manufacturing. We followed the mason's rhythm, installing the windows in batches of five or six. This was essential to enable the other trades to keep pace."

Renovating while respecting the DNAof the house
The craftsman's choice fell on Installux's high-performance joinery solution. Both Galaxie® 32TH sliding systems and Espace® 70TH windows offer the perfect combination of performance and aesthetics for demanding, architectural projects. Their customizable design makes it possible to harmonize all openings.
"To create a balanced aesthetic between the windows and the gilded stone façade, we suggested to the architect a RAL 7022 frosted matte finish," says the craftsman. An elegant gray that displays a certain character without overpowering the stone. Aluminum was a joint choice between the architect and the owners. The latter wanted profiles that were relatively slim but offered good thermal insulation. The craftsman also integrated "petit bois"-style aluminum transoms into the window glazing. An elegant way of recapturing the charm of yesteryear. Similarly, the window frames feature laser-cut festoons in sheet metal, lacquered in the same color as the joinery. They conceal the sunshades.
