The project: A conservatory living room open to the outside
The entire project was guided by this inside/outside relationship, not so much by aesthetic bias as by essential breathing.
To achieve this, the craftsman proposed a Luciole conservatory. Its tubular roof is composed of infill panels and a skylight of three 68mm solar- and sound-insulated glass panels.
The facades feature doors as well as Galaxie 32TH double vent sliding systems. The slim, sand-blasted gray-tinted profiles are both elegant and unobtrusive, never blocking the eye.
The same spirit guided the design of the glazed railing on the terrace section, for a safe inside/outside effect.
The new space was intended to integrate an organic whole comprising kitchen and living room. In other words, a place that people frequent regularly, where life should be good.
Challenge: Thermal protection of the conservatory
Mastering the elements
Two main axes guided the design work: rethinking the junction with the building by bringing in light and fluidity of circulation, guaranteeing a temperate atmosphere that can be modulated in all weathers, which is important in this low mountain region.
The conservatory 's main façade features three Galaxie 32TH two-panel sliding doors, while the side façades offer symmetry, a Comète 70TH entrance door and a two-panel sliding door. This thermal break joinery contributes to the airtightness and insulation of this south-facing room. However, an air-conditioning system and a heat pump complete the room's comfort.
On the roof, as on the facades, thermally protected roller blinds were installed as a second step to modulate sunlight at will.
Overheating problems are no longer a fatality
If interior heat has long been the black spot of the conservatory, those days are long gone. Before choosing any technical solution, you need to be sure to contact an expert who knows your region, its climate and its constraints. He or she will be able to propose, for example, roof glazing solutions that are unfailingly resistant to heavy snow and wind.
Glazing that can be doubled with high solar protection blinds for optimum comfort whatever the weather.
Playing on contrasts can be a guarantee of elegance
The Galaxie 32TH range of sliding doors has been designed with bespoke adaptation in mind. This makes it perfect for renovation projects, even large-scale ones. From an aesthetic point of view, it blends in with both modern and traditional buildings.
And why not complement this touch of modernity with a roof window that opens up the space in all directions?
Customer testimonials
"This house is our investment for the future, because we intend to make this second home our home when we retire. When it came to renovating the terrace, we wanted to develop the comfort aspect by having a conservatory built.
Of course, we compared the projects of several craftsmen and in the end, we chose the one whose project was the most technically accomplished ... but also the one with whom the "current" flowed best.We don't measure enough how important the human relationship is for this type of project."
