L'art de cultiver son jardin secret

Chartres is a city of beautiful bourgeois houses. Their red brick pillars are one of their distinctive features. Their facades often conceal beautiful gardens. As such, they offer tranquility and gentle living to their lucky owners.

So it was that a couple, aware of their good fortune, wanted to exploit the interior/exterior potential of their home to the full. How?By creating a real room opening onto the garden, equipped with all the comforts of home. A bright place where it's pleasant to watch the seasons come and go, without fear of temperature changes.

To create the continuity of their cocoon, the couple turned to Chartres Miroiterie, artisan manufacturer Partner Installux. A bespoke expert capable of creating the unique and the authentic! Transforming an existing building into something imposing was a challenge for this passionate professional. Playing with volumes, letting in natural light, blending materials and styles to give these Chartra residents the space, comfort and cachet they were looking for. It's a major project, for which he has surrounded himself with various tradesmen who, like him, are experts in their field: heating plumbers, electricians, painters, roofer-ziners and masons.

Stars in your eyes

Testimony

"I recommended Installux's flat-roofed home extension. Aesthetically, it created a surprise effect with an interior skylight invisible from the outside. The illusion is truly perfect: thanks to the installation of a fascia board with upstands on the upper part of the facade (the real structure of a flat roof), anyone standing below in the garden thinks the roof is flat. It's only once you're inside that the surprise comes: a gigantic 5.5 x 3.5m glass roof offers incredible clarity to the room, whatever the season.
To open the extension, I proposed a six-leaf Galaxie® 32TH sliding system.A high-performance XL solution with a customizable design! The best way to improve the room's thermal performance while meeting the owners' aesthetic expectations. All of which means that, in the end, this living space is as bright as a fully glazed extension, but much more comfortable!"

A piece in its own right

This extension has become a room in the house in its own right. What's more, it has a timber frame and walls in which all the ducts (gas fireplace connected to the house, ventilation system...), a technical floor and a complete waterproofing system, extending the one installed all around the house.A living space that's an integral part of the house, giving its inhabitants the impression of living outdoors all year round, without having to endure the cold of winter or the excess heat of summer. A healthy, pleasant room!

A glazed roof and maximum solar control

The skylight is the ideal solution for bringing even more natural light into your interior space. To make the most of it, however, you need to retain control over the light. That's why we recommend installing a blind. Once open, it disappears completely into the roof, leaving the view of the sky perfectly unobstructed. In summer, micro-perforated technical fabrics diffuse light without letting in heat. In winter, they also act as a regulator, allowing the room to retain accumulated heat. For optimum comfort, roof awnings can be remotely controlled.

The professional's analysis

The owner couple had long ago had a conservatory installed at the rear of their house. Over time, the conservatory became uncomfortable in both summer and winter. By replacing it with an extension positioned this time along the entire length of the house, on the garden side, the aim was to create an extension of living space. An additional 50m2 of pleasant living space all year round! A true interior space, open to the outside, that can be used as a daily dining area. After discussing the style the couple liked, I designed an extension project combining wood, zinc and aluminum. A complementary trio, therefore ideal for creating an elegant space, halfway between contemporary and traditional, while offering permanent comfort, with no feeling of cold in winter. Condition n°1 for making the most of a home extension.
