Renovation of a conservatory facing the Golfe du Morbihan
This house was built at the end of the 90s, on the seafront facing the Gulf of Morbihan. Then, in 2003, the owners decided to install a conservatory. So, 20 years later, they decided to renovate their conservatory and create a new, more modern extension, incorporating improved thermal comfort. To achieve this, they chose to work with aluminium joiner Breiz Alu, an Installux partner. Their challenge? Redo a rounded frame that perfectly matches the curves of the house's façade.
A 100% made-to-measure project for a technically complex project
After removing the old conservatory, the craftsman designed a 106m2 extension. For this, he chose the flat-roofed Luciole® extension. To enhance their thermal performance, the craftsman fitted the aluminum joinery with solar-control triple glazing. In fact, it's an essential thermal complement. The extension is then extended by a courtyard designed with the same aluminum profiles for perfect aesthetic homogeneity.
Aesthetics also lie at the heart of the project. To preserve the rounded shape of the existing facade structure, the timber frame had to blend in perfectly. The installation of the timber structure required a great deal of work on the part of the design office. What's more, the owners chose to replace the blue color of the original conservatory with an anthracite gray that adds more modernity.
A house extensionfull of light
Using a conservatory as a house extension brings even more light into the building, thanks to the glazing. For the openings, the Breiz Alu craftsman chose Installux high-performance joinery: the Galaxie® 32TH sliding window with 3 sashes and the Espace® 70TH window. The four series of sliding windows installed on the facade create a total glazed surface area of 21 metres, giving an unobstructed view of the sea. He also chose to install three skylights in the roof to bring more light into the extension. Fitted with motorized shutters, they ensure control of light and heat in the room.
Reinforced insulation with thermal break
In a renovation or new-build project, it's imperative to combat heat leakage. At a time when saving energy is a central issue in every home, it's important to choose aluminum profiles equipped with thermal break technologies. In fact, to reinforce the insulation of your joinery, a bar crimp ensures a thermal break between the inside and outside, in winter and summer alike.
Transform your home with extension
With the Covid-19 crisis and various confinements, work organization and lifestyles have changed a lot. The home must therefore adapt and create spaces for these new uses:
- The bedroom becomes an office
- Part of the house becomes a master suite
- We want to enjoy the garden and its outdoors more...
The home extension is thus a solution for redistributing space in the home. A conservatory gives you extra space and lets you take full advantage of the outdoors. For example, it can be used to create a living room.
