Sweetness Italian-style living

Les Monts d'Or, located on the heights of Lyon, offers an incomparable quality of life to its inhabitants. These communes have managed to preserve their natural and agricultural areas: a link between town and country. The footpaths are the ideal vantage point from which to admire the architect-designed houses that have blossomed in the landscape over the years.
In keeping with the character of Saint-Didier-au-Mont-d'Or, all the buildings are designed with an aesthetic halfway between the contemporary and the ancient. Impressive, oversized, unique... these architect-designed homes are now part of the town's cachet.

One of them, recently built, has perfectly found its balance by asserting its own character. Its owner, an architect and family man, dreamed it up, thought it out and then sketched it out. To build it, he naturally called on Berger Fermetures et Menuiseries, an Installux partner artisan manufacturer.

Installux specializes in the creation of atypical, made-to-measure structures. From this meeting was born a beautiful collaboration that has enabled, this nugget, to make its place in the local architectural landscape and bring visual satisfaction and living comfort to its occupants.

Testimony

"Our choices had to ensure that the joinery, some of which was of unusual dimensions, provided real operational reliability, high thermal capacity and real durability, with minimum maintenance. We equipped the living area with a large sliding window integrated into a set of fixed frames creating a large curtain wall. A radical choice that gives the library a grandiose appearance."

Despite the exceptionally large openings, the customer wanted to maximize the amount of clear glazing and keep the visual mass to a minimum. To meet this requirement, both sliding and fixed windows were chosen from Installux's high-performance range. Galaxie® 32TH sliding systems and Espace® 70TH windows are perfectly suited to demanding, architectural construction projects. Both ranges combine thermal performance with customizable design (choice of interior and exterior design, customizable accessories, adaptability to all types of wall, etc.). Ideal for creating unique and harmonious spaces, totally made-to-measure."

Tailor-made to the unique style

Thanks to the use of three characterful materials: concrete, aluminum and wood, this house asserts its minimalist yet raw style, in perfect harmony with its surroundings.

The front door had to fit in with the chosen trend towards natural wood, while guaranteeing a long service life. The craftsman therefore recommended a high-performance Comète® 70TH door, manufactured in his workshop. The wood-tone lacquering, produced using the sublimation technique, gives it an appearance similar to that of real wood. The infill is made of wide slats joined by insulation. As a result, the door offers the best thermal performance, while providing robustness and aesthetic coherence with the house as a whole.

In the same vein, the craftsman's work on the facade was a challenge in itself to create a set of sliding shutters from aluminum profiles. Combined with Galaxie® 32TH sliding shutters in the living areas, comfort and usability are perfectly optimized.
Here again, the wood tone was the guiding principle to contrast with the concrete of the walls. All joinery is anthracite grey, reinforcing the modernity of the concrete. This work required many hours of research to achieve the perfect balance between the material and the Italian-inspired visual rendering so sought after by the architect.

Sublimate your home with aluminum

The choice of material is one of the features that transform a home into a resolutely warm and personal space. In addition to its qualities of durability, environmental friendliness and ease of maintenance, aluminum's trump card is its wealth of shades. Gray, for example, comes in many shades, and with his expert eye, your craftsman will be able to recommend the right one for you. The same is true of wood tones, which offer a perfect illusion in four different species. A process obtained by sublimation, not by veneering, a guarantee of quality. So your Satellite® gates, wickets and fences not only stand the test of time and all weather conditions, they also look inimitable.

The craftsman's challenge

Like all architect-designed houses, this one has its own codes. These include very large window frames. In practice, we started with the architect's sketch and refined it as we went along, depending on what was really feasible. We shared his Italian inspirations to design a unique work. It was a true collaborative effort that lasted over several months before work began. The challenge was to create openings and closures that met the aspirations of the architect, the owner of the house, while striking the right balance between contemporary and traditional design to respect the homogeneity of the surrounding houses. A long-term challenge with a breathtaking result!
