The Installux story: a century of aluminum and partnership
French joinery supplier since 1923
For over a century, Installux has been shaping the history of aluminum joinery in France.
From the artisan workshop founded in Lyon to a major industrial group, the company has built its success on local presence, technical mastery and innovation.
Today, Installux stands out as a supplier of aluminum joinery recognized for the quality of its systems, the strength of its network and its loyalty to the artisan spirit.
At the origins: the workshop spirit
It all began in Lyon, in 1923, rue Baraban.
Alfred Ollier, an artisan carpenter, founded a small wood joinery workshop, driven by a simple conviction: work with exacting standards and proximity.
From the outset, his company was committed to a deeply human approach: listening, trust and craftsmanship.
This philosophy of tailor-made solutions and craftsmanship will become the foundation of a unique industrial adventure in the world of aluminum joinery.
The 1960s: aluminium as a promise for the future
In 1963, faced with changing construction techniques, the Ateliers Ollier initiated a bold change: from wood to aluminum.
A modern, durable and recyclable material, it seduces with its ability to combine finesse and robustness.
Thus was born the INSTALLUX brand, dedicated to the design and manufacture of aluminum systems for joinery.
The company positions itself as a supplier of aluminum joinery unlike any other: it designs complete technical ranges and gives each craftsman the freedom to create tailor-made solutions, adapted to his worksite and his customer.
From this time onwards, Installux asserts itself as a partner of innovation and trust for building professionals.
The 1980s: employee buyouts as a symbol of collective commitment
In 1987, Installux wrote an unprecedented page in its history.
Bought out by its employees, the company became a model of participatory governance and strengthened its independence.
This bold choice symbolizes a strong conviction: lasting success is built on trust and shared responsibility.
Boosted by this collective spirit, Installux is accelerating its growth and confirming its role as the French reference in the aluminum joinery sector.
Installux received in 1987 the prix de l'Excellence awarded by the Usine Nouvelle and presented by Jacques Chirac, then Prime Minister.
The 1990s: the time of deployment
The following decade is one of strategic development.
Installux strengthens its network of partner manufacturers, structures its offering as a supplier of tailor-made aluminum joinery, and continues its international expansion.
In 1997, the creation of a subsidiary in Bahrain (Installux Gulf) paves the way for further expansion of French know-how abroad, always guided by the same high standards: quality, service and proximity.
The 2000s: integration for better control
To guarantee control of its production and responsiveness of its offering, Installux chooses to integrate the entire industrial chain.
The group structures itself around the design, extrusion and lacquering of aluminum profiles, asserting its technical autonomy.
The company's site at Saint-Bonnet-de-Mure, near Lyon, becomes the beating heart of its industrial network.
France Alu Color: excellence in powder coating
The acquisition of France Alu Color (FAC) marks a turning point.
As a powder-coating specialist, FAC reinforces the group's industrial know-how: top-of-the-range lacquering lines, crimping workshop and wood-style sublimated finishes.
Installux then embodies a supplier-manufacturer model for aluminum joinery combining aesthetics, technicality and durability.
The 2010s: innovation, training and industrial independence
The creation of IES, the second act of vertical integration
Following the 2008 crisis, Installux turns constraint into opportunity.
In 2010, the creation of Installux Extrusion Services (IES) makes it possible to secure aluminum supplies and guarantee total independence in production.
Technical innovation: the 70TH range
This period also sees the birth of the 70TH range, the first product line to comply with RT 2010/2012 standards.
Installux thus confirms its positioning as an innovative player in aluminum joinery and its commitment to energy performance.
The Aluminium Campus: passing on and training
At the same time, Installux is investing in training and passing on in 2019 with the Aluminium Campus, a skills center dedicated to artisan joiners.
A genuine place for exchange and learning, it perpetuates the expertise of the trade and enhances the value of new generations of professionals.
The 2020s: a unifying and visionary group
Aluminium & Partenaires
In 2020, Installux adopts a new signature:
"Installux - Aluminium & Partenaires ".
This identity affirms its role as supplier and partner to aluminum joiners, committed to working alongside them to preserve, enhance and develop the trade.
Strategic acquisitions and new markets
Installux extends its expertise into new sectors:
- In 2022, the Installux Group acquires Mécanalu, a specialist in aluminum modular partitions for tertiary spaces;
- In 2025, the Group integrates Comey, an expert in technical floors for data centers and offices.
These acquisitions reflect Installux's determination to build a complete ecosystem around aluminum joinery, capable of responding to new architectural uses and the challenges of sustainable building.
A century of men, metal and ideas
From Alfred Ollier's workshop in Lyon to today's international group, Installux has combined the spirit of a craftsman with the vision of an industrialist.
Its history illustrates the strength of an independent aluminum joinery supplier, driven by innovation, transmission and proximity to its partners.
